Welcome to VaultScan. By using our service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. What VaultScan Does

VaultScan is an AI input security screening tool that helps detect hidden prompt injection attempts in files. Our service:

• Scans uploaded images, PDFs, Word documents (.docx), Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), and email files (.eml, .msg) for potential security threats
• Provides threat analysis and explanations
• Generates cleaned versions of files with removable threats (such as JavaScript, macros, and auto-actions) stripped out

Important: VaultScan is a screening tool that helps detect threats — it does not guarantee security or prevent all attacks. We identify known threat patterns but cannot guarantee detection of all possible attacks, including new or sophisticated techniques. Additionally, our cleaning feature removes metadata and executable content but cannot remove text-based threats embedded in document content. You are solely responsible for your own security decisions.

2. Your Account

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information
• Keep your password secure
• Notify us of any unauthorized access
• Be responsible for all activity under your account

3. How We Handle Your Files

Your privacy is our priority:

• We never store your files. Files are processed in memory and immediately deleted after scanning.
• We only save scan metadata (filename, date, threat count) for your history.
• Cleaned file downloads are generated on-demand and not stored.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Upload illegal content
• Attempt to overload or disrupt our service
• Reverse engineer our scanning technology
• Share your account with others
• Use automated systems to abuse scan limits
• Use VaultScan for any unlawful purpose

5. Service Tiers & Payments

Free Tier

• 5 scans per month
• Image scanning only
• Basic threat detection
• No credit card required

Pro Monthly ($19/month)

• Unlimited scans
• PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), and email file scanning (.eml, .msg)
• Advanced threat detection including API key exposure
• Clean file downloads (removes JavaScript, macros, and auto-actions)
• Priority support

Pro Annual ($149/year — Save 35%)

• All Pro Monthly features
• Billed annually at a discounted rate

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your billing dashboard.

6. Refund Policy

This applies to both Pro Monthly and Pro Annual plans:

• Pro Monthly: Full refund if requested within 30 days of the most recent charge.
• Pro Annual: Full refund if requested within 30 days of the initial charge.

After the 30-day window, you can cancel anytime to stop future charges, but past payments are non-refundable. Cancelling does not delete your account — you'll keep access to your scan history on the free tier.

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. We respond to refund requests within one business day and almost always resolve issues faster than a chargeback would.

7. Limitation of Liability

VaultScan is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for:

• Undetected threats that cause damage
• Threats that remain in "cleaned" files
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Data loss (though we don't store your files)
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Decisions made based on scan results

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VaultScan, VaultXCircle Labs, and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. If changes are significant, we'll notify you by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You can cancel your account anytime from your dashboard. Upon termination:

• Your access to Pro features ends immediately
• Your scan history may be deleted
• No refund for the current billing period (unless within the 30-day refund window)

11. Email Communications

By creating an account, you agree to receive occasional emails from us, including:

• Important security alerts and product updates
• Changes to your account or our service
• Occasional tips on AI security (infrequent, we promise)

We respect your inbox and won't spam you. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails anytime by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or contacting us directly.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
